How to make a claim

At Your Cover we know that the next time you need to buy insurance you will judge Your Cover by how helpful, efficient and fair we were in dealing with your claim. If you need to make a claim against a Your Cover home insurance policy, simply call our Claims department on 0844 893 9608. Claims handlers are available to help you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Your claim will be dealt with over the 'phone and you will not need to complete a claim form.

What information will we ask for?  

Please try to have the following information ready so we can deal with your claim for you as quickly as possible:

  • Your policy number
  • Date and details of the event or incident for which you are making the claim
  • A description of the damage for which you are claiming
  • Where applicable, the crime or incident number supplied to you by the Police when they attended your home or when you reported the incident.
What happens when you make a claim?  

When you call us, we will simply record the details of your claim. We will discuss with you the best way to get your claim dealt with and, if necessary, put you in touch with one of our approved repairers. By using an approved repairer, the work will be guaranteed for at least 5 years. We will keep you informed, proactively, on the progress of your claim.

Information we may also require in settling your claim  

Depending on the nature of your claim, we may require further information from you. This could include:

  • Accurate descriptions and values of items which have been damaged or stolen.
  • Valuation certificates or receipts relating to items which have been damaged or stolen.
  • Estimates for repair work if you wish to use your own trades people rather than our approved repairers.
Our Claims promise  

At Your Cover we believe the Claims process is our opportunity to provide you with the highest level of customer service possible. We have set up our Claims process in such a way as to ensure we achieve this:

  • You will be assigned your own named Claims handler, no matter how large or small your claim.
  • Each Claims handler works in a small team of 3 or 4 people, which means that if they are temporarily unavailable, there will be another person from the same team available to help you.
  • Each Claims handler will proactively update you on the progress of your claim and you can agree with them how often they should contact you and by what medium, for example email or telephone.
  • Our UK-based Claims registering service is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Genuine emergencies will be dealt with immediately at any time but claims are processed during working hours. However, you may register a general claim at any time of the day or night and we will call you back during the working day to discuss it with you.
