Cancelling your policy with Your Cover
Your Cover aims to give you the freedom to design and shape your insurance to keep it in line with your changing lifestyle and circumstances. We understand that these changes may, from time to time, mean you need to cancel a policy you hold with us.
| Cancelling or making changes to a new policy |
You may cancel a policy within 14 days of the date you receive it. You can do this by contacting our UK customer centre on 0844 209 0841. If you cancel the policy within this 14 day period, you are entitled to a refund of the premium that you have paid for the policy, except where an incident has occurred, which may give rise to a total loss claim. In this case, the full annual premium may be payable to us. Cancellation of your policy within this time will incur an administration fee of £15 and a refund is based upon a minimum premium refund of £25. You may also remove any of your options within 14 days of the date you receive your policy, or the date that you received the amended policy. If you remove an option within this 14 day period, you will receive a full refund for that option, unless an incident has occurred that may give rise to a total loss claim, in which case the full annual premium may be payable to us. |

| Cancelling or making changes to your policy mid-term |
We may cancel your policy by giving you seven days' notice in writing to your last known address. We will return the premium for the part of the policy that you have not yet used, unless you have made a claim during the period of insurance. You may cancel this policy by giving us notice in writing. Any refund will be calculated according to the date we receive notice in writing. Where a premium is otherwise returned, a £10 deduction will be applied. |
|---|
| Return of premium |
If you cancel your policy, we will refund the premium for the remaining duration of the policy, i.e. that which you have not yet used. However, if you have made a claim against the policy, no refund will be made. Where a premium is returned, a £10 deduction will be applied. If you cancel your Core cover, all other sections, including the Identity fraud assistance and Legal expenses options, will also be cancelled from the same date. |
|---|
| Cancelling your options |
We may cancel any of your options by giving you seven days' notice in writing to your last known address. If this happens, we will return the premium for the part of the policy that you have not yet used, unless you have made a claim during the period of insurance. You may cancel any of your options at any time, without cancelling the whole policy or any other part of it. We will not charge you an administration fee for cancelling any of the options we offer. |
|---|
| Return of option premium |
If you cancel an option and you have paid the full annual premium, we will refund the amount you have paid for the unused period, as long as you took the option out at the start of your policy or at renewal, and you have not made a claim under the option in the current period of insurance. If you cancel an option and you pay by monthly Direct Debit, your debits will be adjusted for the remaining period unless you have made a claim. |
|---|
| Implications of cancelling |
If you cancel your policy, this includes the Core cover and any additional options you may have selected. Please note:

| What happens at the end of the term of the Your Cover policy? |
When your policy is due for renewal, we will renew it for you automatically. We will write to you before the policy expires with full details of the next year's premium and policy conditions. If you do not want to renew your home insurance policy with us, please contact us when you receive your pre-expiry renewal notification. It is important that you do not allow an insurance policy with us to lapse before arranging alternative cover if it is required. In some circumstances you may find that you are unable to obtain alternative home insurance elsewhere, for example where you have suffered damage or loss due to flooding or subsidence, heave or landslip. If your car insurance lapses before you have arranged alternative cover, you will not be legally entitled to drive on UK roads. Should we decide that we will not renew your policy, we will notify you in writing prior to the renewal date. |
